Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the second semester of Grade 1. I trust that you are all ready for this new term.

A few things of note:

*Homework is also found on the simplified homework page on the right-hand side of the page. 

*In Reading Street we are reading a new story called Ox Helps. I will provide the 1C class with the same material (reading sheet/worksheet) that the RED group has as they will be writing the same test next week, Friday, February 21^st. 15 minutes of Reading homework is assigned EVERY DAY even if it is not written as homework!

**We will follow the Phonics in the Reading Street book and will focus on the short ‘o’ until next week.  Most of the written material will be done at school and most of the homework will consist of everyday reading and drawing or coloring.

***We will have a Spelling Test every day from WEEK 2. This will help the students review the words for Friday’s test as many don’t seem to have time at home. The students will have three (3) words every day with the exception of Friday when they will have 10-12. *The words on Friday’s test will be a review of words 1-12 of the week.

****For tomorrow’s spelling test we will test 1-10.       blue, from,  get,  little,  use, help, sister, mom, brother, dad

 These words are in the communication book as well.

Conversation to memorize for Week 2 A: Who is she? B: She is my mother/grandma/ sister. A: Who is he? B: He is my father/ grandpa/brother.

We will discuss the books and program in more detail at the PTA.
