October 2014,
Dear Moms,Dads, Grandpa's and Grandma's,
Life is extremely
busy in Grade 2 and it often seems as if there aren't enough hours in a day to
complete everything we need to do.
We went on a
wonderful trip to a farm in Toayuan and got to do amazing things. We took lots of pictures
and they can be found on Teacher Ivy’s Grade 2, Facebook Page, as well as on
the Xinmin Bilingual Page on Facebook.
We made tea by grinding nuts. We
rolled rice and we got to make a rice cake with red beans. We also got to grind
rice with an old-fashioned grinder by pushing and pulling a bar. That, was a lot
of fun.
The first monthly tests are over and
we can breathe a little bit easier until the next one. :)
The students all
performed well and you should receive the test results today. Despite the tests
being a bit more difficult, most of our students have improved.
We are reading a filler story at the
moment and will spend one week on it. It is easy for most of the students to
read but they still have to read at home. Click on the Reading Street link on
the right and it will take you to the lesson we are doing this week, ‘A Place
to Play’. As usual there are a few games as well as extension activities that
the kids can do at home if they have some extra time.
We are all excited about
Saturday’s Sports day and hope to see you there. We have some chants that you
can help us with. The students can teach you. J
With Halloween around the corner, we
will notify you of any changes in the schedule before the time. At this moment
in time, it looks as if we will take a Friday morning class to play some games
with the students.
I hope to see you all on Saturday,
Carmen
A huge thank you all the moms and dads who took time out of their busy schedules to come to the PTC on Saturday morning. To those moms and dads who could not, we'll have another one later in the school year and I look forward to seeing you then. If you want to see us sooner, you know where to find us :)
This semester will be quite a busy one and we hope that we will have the parents support as we embark on this very important transition year. The work we are doing now, will set the pace for grade 3.
Thank you again for all your support.
Ms. Carmen Pedro
