Sailing off into the Sunset!

Week 14
Dear Students and Parents,

It has been a while since I’ve had a chance to post. During that time, we’ve written our 2nd Monthly exams and have passed with flying colors!
Congratulations to all our students.
You did an amazing job!

We also started and completed a story called ‘Dot and Jabber and the Great Acorn Mystery’. Even though we did not spend near enough time covering the story, the kids enjoyed it none-the-less. The glog is available if you click on the name of the story.

We’ve started a new story called ‘Simple Machines. They have the worksheets and will have reading homework every day. Whatever they don't complete during classtime, they need to complete at home.
This is actually an expository text that deals with real things and gives us information about them. We will also be extending this to our experience class where we should make a water wheel, which should be interesting. They are learning about inclined planes, wheels and axles, as well as levers and pulleys.
Oh, and the sound that –oi- and -oy- makes. We will also be learning about suffixes -er and -or.
The glog for this story will be up by Saturday and I will try to link it to the blog.

We are having a Spelling Bee in our class this afternoon. It will be very exciting as the students are very competitive.
We have many, really motivated students in our class and a few who need a little more motivation.

The homework is written in the communication books every Monday or Tuesday, depending on whether we've had a holiday. Please try to sign the communication book.
