Diving in!

September 13th, 2015
Dear Parents and Students,
Thank you to all of the parents who took time out on a Saturday morning to come to school J and to those who couldn’t make it, see you next time.
Something that came up at the meeting was that students didn’t know they had to hand in the letters sent out. I will make sure that they know what to do this week with everything I send out, including homework.

As for the summer homework, I will take every Tuesday morning and spend 1 session, going over one section with them until they have completed everything.
I will try to do as much as possible in class and leave the bits that they don’t complete for homework.

Parents, once again, please check and sign the communication book each night, after your child has read or completed the homework assignments. Also, ask to see the homework before signing.
Some of our students need to improve on their penmanship and I will ask them to rewrite certain texts.

This week we start a new unit where we’ll focus on how people explain nature. We know that long ago, people would explain nature through myths, but today we use science. Over the next two weeks we’ll be exploring the following articles “The Secrets of Nature”, Explaining Nature’s Secrets”, "Scientists at Work" and a fable called “Why Owl hunts at Night”
The glog will be available from Tuesday, so that the students can review some of the concepts at home.
